Nathan Zulueta, QCCCI Chairman, said "the strict enforcement of the ordinance, if passed, will establish a viable business environment in the local government level and strengthen the countrys anti-piracy drive.
Zulueta said the local government plays a key role in the governments IPR protection campaign. Enforcement efforts of the Optical Media Board, National Bureau of Investigation, Intellectual Property Office and other law enforcement agencies can be greatly enhanced and sustained.
The proposed ordinance will also boost Mayor Feliciano Belmonte Jr.s strong advocacy of the protection of copyright laws.
Majority Floor leader Ariel Inton, principal author of the ordinance, said that once approved, the ordinance will impose punishment to individuals found responsible for the manufacture, sale, production, distribution and retail of pirated products. Perseus Echeminada
