The mayor said the latest figures represented a 197 percent increase in the BPLOs collection in the month of May this year compared to the last three years.
Echiverri said the increase is the highest ever in terms of revenue collection of the licensing office headed by lawyer Melanie Soriano-Malaya.
Records showed the office collected a total of P5,857,009.07 from business owners securing permits and licenses.
The amount is distributed between the Main City Hall along Mabini street with collections of P4,622,853.44 while P1,234,155.63 was collected by North City Hall in the second district (Bukid Area).
For May 2005, the BPLO collected P3.9 million more than the collection of nearly P2 million in May 2004. In May 2003, collection was P2.3 million while collection for May 2002 was only P1,968,740.
The January to May 2005 collections (P108,960,261.73) from licenses and business permits was 43.3 percent higher than the collection of the office for the same period last year.
