Malabon cop, laborer injured in street brawl

-
A policeman was injured while a laborer is in critical condition in a hospital for trying to pacify a street brawl last Saturday night in Malabon City.

Eddie Castillo, 44, a resident of 55-84 P. Concepcion st., Barangay Tugatog, Malabon, is now confined in an undisclosed hospital due to a bullet wound in the face and a stab wound in the stomach.

PO1 Rio Norcio of the Malabon City Police Community Precinct (PCP) 4 sustained a knife wound in the right hand.

Reports showed that a commotion occurred at around 9:40 p.m. along Tumares st. in Barangay Tugatog. Castillo, who passed by the area, tried to intervene but he was shot in the face by one Julius Hipolito, 21, a resident of 31 P. Concepcion st., also in Barangay Tugatog.

Though already wounded, another suspect, identified as Robert Cinco, 29, also attacked Castillo and stabbed him in the stomach.

The PCP4 operatives, led by PO2 Renato Madia, who were on a routine visibility patrol near the area, stepped in but the suspects put up a fight.

During the commotion, Cinco reportedly stabbed Norcio but the cop parried the suspect’s knife wounding his right hand.

Hipolito, who was armed with a handgun, fired at PO1 Rodolfo Alvarez but missed.

Alvarez was able to disarm the suspect of his revolver which was loaded with two live bullets and two spent shells. The cops arrested the suspects and locked them up at the detention cell. Pete Laude
