Caloocan public lawyers get incentives to expedite cases
June 6, 2005 | 12:00am
Caloocan City Rep. Luis "Baby" Asistio donated cash and office equipment to the local Public Attorneys Office (PAO) to boost the morale of the public lawyers and serve as incentive to expedite cases.
"Lets us support our PAO lawyers for they are our unsung heroes working silently for our poor residents in their quest for justice," Asistio said.
Asistio turned over to the PAO lawyers, led by their national chief Persida Rueda-Acosta, three computer sets, five steel cabinets, 24 monoblock plastic chairs, and P90,000 in check in a ceremony held at the Caloocan City Jail.
According to Cenon Mayor, president of the Kalookan Assistance Council Inc. (KACI) which facilitated the project, Asistio, a reformed former prisoner, has chosen the local jail as the projects beneficiary to let the inmates know that the government cares for them.
"Asistio also wants to inspire detainees to reform and have a normal life once released from prison," Mayor told The STAR.
