With Taguig massacre solved, search intensifies for missing head

- Edu Punay -
Where is Hayda Napura’s head?

This is the only question that remains unanswered following the swift solution of the brutal murder of a family of three and a housemaid in Taguig City.

As charges of robbery with multiple homicide and rape were filed against the confessed mastermind, Albert Leonor, 22, and his four alleged cohorts last Friday afternoon before the Pasig City Prosecutor’s Office, an intensified search is being conducted for the head of the slain businesswoman.

Police chief Superintendent Ramon Reyes said finding the missing head will not only result in the closure of the case, but will also give the victims’ relatives peace.

Antonio Nalagay, 39, brother of Napura, said that only when punishment for the killers has been handed down and the discovery of his sister’s head can they find contentment and justice.

Last Friday, Leonor admitted being the mastermind in the killing of Napura, her husband Antonio, daughter Haidi, and maid Tata Netis in Taguig last Sunday.

He admitted during tactical interrogation that rage and a tragic experience in the past drove him to kill the family, who had fired him from their bakery last February at a time when he was set to marry his pregnant girlfriend.

Reyes stressed that apart from strong evidence against Leonor, his admission would be a ground enough to convict him of the crime.

The main suspect also admitted that he was the one who strangled and beheaded Napura using a butcher’s knife.

He said he dragged the victim’s body to one of the rooms before placing her head inside a plastic bag, which they dumped into a garbage heap in Guadalupe, Makati City.

"We are beginning our search for the head there. We are checking every garbage heap in Guadalupe and nearby areas," Reyes said.

The killer also confessed that he raped the maid before killing her.

The other suspects, identified as Eduard Ave, 32, alias Digs; Joseph Georfo, 24, alias Jojo; Jeffrey Prima, 18, alias Buboy; and Armando Gansad, 36, were tagged by Leonor as his cohorts, but they have denied involvement in the crime.
