Improved delivery of services at Ospital ng Maynila

The inauguration of the newly renovated Emergency Room, Infirmary Ward and Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (Nursery) at the Ospital ng Maynila is just the first in a series of improvements in the delivery of public health services that Manila Mayor Lito Atienza has lined up this year.

"Health is one of the top priorities of the Buhayin ng Maynila program, and as the city government renovates some of the vital facilities of the Ospital ng Maynila we guarantee a more efficient and much improved delivery of free health care services for all Manileños especially the poor," Atienza said.

It took one month for the City Engineer’s Office (CEO) to complete the renovation work on the said facilities. Aside from redesigning the areas and rearranging the equipment, the walls and ceilings have also been repainted with light and pastel colors. Additional lighting was installed and all of the three facilities are now fully air-conditioned.

The Emergency Room, which can accommodate 300-400 acutely ill and seriously injured patients daily, was equipped with six two-toner air-condition units. An anti-bacteria vinyl flooring was installed.

On the other hand, the Infirmary Ward that is designed for employees of the city government of Manila, barangay officials and PhilHealth members and their dependents can accommodate 60 patients. Fifteen window-type air-condition units were put up in its rooms.

The Neonatal Intensive Care Unit or Nursery that can accommodate 80 to 100 healthy newborns and pathologic ones was equipped with four window-type air-condition units. An anti-bacteria vinyl flooring was likewise installed.
