Las Piñas showcases Bamboo Organ in DOT fair

A giant replica of the world-renowned Bamboo Organ and a decorative Sarao jeepney, both genuine legacies from Las Piñas City, are among the major attractions at the Department of Tourisms ongoing exhibit dubbed as "Best of Metropolitan Manila 2005" at Clamshell 1 in Intramuros, Manila.
Tourism Secretary Ace Durano cited Las Piñas City Mayor Mel Aguilar for the citys unique exhibition and active participation in the month-long activity with theme: "Ginintuang Pamana ng Lahi," showcasing important legacies of different cities and municipalities in the National Capital Region.
Aside from the Bamboo Organ and the jeepney, Las Piñas also showcased various infrastructure and social development projects of the city, which the mayor said shall be considered among the important legacies of the city government to the people of Las Piñas.
Featured projects include the provision of the free and quality education, the modern pedestrian overpasses with escalators, and manpower and livelihood training for out-of-school-youth.
Appetizing delicacies and handmade garments produced by the Las Piñas manpower students are also part of the exhibit.
Citing the city governments projects, Aguilar said the future generation shall not only remember Las Piñas for its Bamboo Organ, jeepneys and salt beds, but also its remarkable transformation from a low-key municipality in to the cleanest, most progressive and peaceful city in the country.
Apart from the annual Bamboo Organ Festival, Las Piñas has been helping the country boost local tourism by making it a "Lakbay-Aral" destination for public officials from different local government units in the country.
The Best of Metropolitan Manila is an initiative of the DOT that showcases different important legacies of cities and municipalities in the NCR.
Other participating cities and municipalities are Manila, Pasay, Makati, Mandaluyong, Marikina, Pasig, Quezon City, Valenzuela, Malabon, Caloocan, San Juan, Muntinlupa, Parañaque and Pateros.
