QC takes action vs side mirror theft

-
A Quezon City councilor, concerned over the proliferation of sale of stolen car side mirrors, is seeking a ban on the purchase and selling of surplus side mirror glass of unknown origin in the city.

Council majority leader Ariel Inton’s ordinance seeks a maximum six months imprisonment and a fine of P 3,000 as penalty to any person caught violating the proposed measure.

The proposal, which was approved on second reading the other day, tasks the Department of Public Order and Safety (DPOS) to undertake apprehensions of persons violating any provision of the ordinance.

The regulation and prohibition of such activities will prevent if not totally eradicate the proliferation of stolen side mirrors, Inton said. Perseus Echeminada
