Music videos depicting nudity and sexual suggestive scenes are now a thing of the past for many videoke clubs and other sing-along entertainment spots in Quezon City with the recent approval City Ordinance SP-1489-S-2005 by the Sangguniang Panglungsod.
Authored by Councilor Janet "Babes" Malaya (fourth district), the ordinance was approved amid a strong public clamor for the banning of use and exhibition of lewd videos in public places and establishments.
The councilor noted that most of the videoke joints in the city have in their collection video materials showing sexually suggestive scenes.
"We have to set good example here in Quezon City especially when it concerns public entertainment that should be clean, pure fun and morally straight," she said." A great number of customers, many of them still very young, patronize videoke bars regularly for pure entertainment purposes and therefore, they should be offered only wholesome music videos."
