Two men were hurt in a vehicular accident caused by poor road lighting on Kalayaan-Buendia flyover in Makati City before dawn yesterday.
The victims, identified as Jayvic Lim, 37, businessman, and Tony Reyes, 39, sustained injuries in different parts of the body when their black Toyota Altis (XJF-905) overturned while approaching a curve at the southbound lane of the flyover going to Paseo de Roxas from C-5 Road at around 4 a.m.
Senior Police Officer 1 Mike Descalzo, of the city traffic unit, said the vehicle rammed the center island, sent it tumbling to the left side before resting on the innermost lane of the flyover.
He said the right front portion of the car was crushed.
Responding emergency and rescue teams brought the victims to Makati Medical Center for treatment.
Investigators said Lim, who was driving, may not have seen the concrete divider at the center island as the car approached the curve because the street lights in the area were busted.
Descalzo said Reyes, who was occupying the front passenger seat, told him it was really dark in the area and that there were no warning signs near the curve. Edu Punay
