DENR distributes land deeds to Taguig residents

-
The Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR) has distributed deeds of sale and certificates of entitlement for lot allocation (CELA) to qualified residents of Taguig City, coinciding with the former municipality’s founding anniversary celebration.

The distribution of 312 deeds of sale and 189 CELAs benefited residents of Barangay Lower, Upper and Western Bicutan and Signal Village. It was made possible through the DENR’s Handog Titulo Program.

"We hope that these awardees will think of their home lots not only as their chance to improve their lot. They could also explore different livelihood opportunities which in turn will be their contribution to our country’s economic advancement," said DENR Secretary Michael Defensor.

Under the program, the awardees are given a maximum of 300 square meters lot each at a minimum cost.

The latest distribution of the deeds of sale and CELAs in Taguig City brought to 14,492 the number of beneficiaries of the land disposition program since 1992, as it likewise brought to 1,395 the number of CELAs distributed in the city.

CELA is a certification issued by the DENR that gives recognition to qualified individuals as program beneficiaries to the DENR’s land disposition scheme.

At this point, Defensor said they will try their best to complete the distribution of CELAs in three areas in Taguig City by the end of this year.

The three areas — Western Bicutan, Lower Bicutan and Camp Bagong Diwa – were proclaimed by President Arroyo for disposition to bonafide residents of Taguig City.

The three areas have a total area of 16 hectares. Around 1,600 families stand to benefit from the program. Katherine Adraneda
