Four persons were hurt when a fire broke out in a thickly populated area in Tondo, Manila and a gasoline store in Quezon City over the weekend.
Two women were hurt in Tondo yesterday afternoon while two teenagers were also hurt in the fire in QC on Saturday evening.
SPO1 Rodrigo Arano, of the Tondo police station, identified those injured as sisters Joan and Grace dela Cruz, aged 18 and 23, respectively, both of 1325 Alinian st.
Police said the victims were rushed to the Mary Johnston Hospital for treatment.
There were no reported fatalities in the incident.
Initial investigation showed that the fire started at around 12:39 p.m. and quickly spread to 20 houses that were mostly made of light materials.
Firemen who rushed to the scene were hampered by the narrow streets. The fire had reached Task Force Charlie before it was placed under control at about 2:30 p.m.
Arson investigators are still trying to determine the cause of the fire.
Meanwhile, fire authorities identified the Quezon City victims as sisters Sharon and Nellie Aquino, aged 19 and 17 respectively, of Purok 9, Luzon Avenue, Barangay Holy Spirit. They sustained second degree burns and were taken to the East Avenue Meical Center.
Fire probers said the fire started at around 8:18 p.m. on Saturday in a store which sells gasoline for tricycles, reportedly owned by the victims family.
The siblings reportedly tried to contain the fire but got hurt instead.
