Computer shop owner killed in Taguig heist

- Edu Punay -
A computer shop owner was killed while two others were hurt when robbers hit his establishment in Taguig yesterday.

Alex Trocio, 25, was shot dead by three armed men inside the E-Channel computer shop on Quasay street in Signal Village at around 2:45 a.m., police said.

PO3 Harold Aglipay said the victim’s mother, Dionisia, 63, and Ryan Oscar Macatugal, a 16-year-old student renting a computer, were also shot by the robbers.

Both are in critical condition at the Rizal Medical Center.

The suspects, who were armed with revolvers and a fan knife, barged the establishment and immediately announced a heist.

Trocio and five customers inside the shop were held at gunpoint by the robbers. Macatugal tried to make a dash for the exit, prompting one of the suspects to shoot him. He was hit in the cheek.

Aglipay said the suspects then approached the owner, who was at the counter. They demanded that he hand over his cell phone and all the cash in the register. However, Trocio refused, prompting one of the suspects to shoot him several times in different parts of the body.

A few seconds later, the owner’s mother came running out from one of the rooms and started shouting for help.

One of the suspects shot her once, witnesses said.

The robbers took whatever they can and fled onboard a white taxi. Witnesses said the robbers were in their early 20s.

The customers, mostly college students living near the area, rushed the victims to Rizal Medical Center.

Trocio was pronounced dead on arrival while the two others were rushed to the emergency room.

Police said they have yet to determine the total amount of cash and valuables taken by the robbers.
