Atienza: NCRPO in good hands under new chief

-
Manila Mayor Lito Atienza has praised and thrown his full support behind new National Capital Regional Police Office (NCRPO) chief Director Avelino Razon Jr.

Atienza said he was elated that Razon, a two-term director of the Western Police District (WPD), was chosen by the leadership of the Philippine National Police (PNP) to head the NCRPO.

"I’m glad that Gen. Razon got the most coveted police post in Metro Manila. Anyway, I’m throwing my full support behind him knowing fully well that under his leadership the NCRPO is in good hands," Atienza said.

Razon and PNP chief Director General Edgar Aglipay paid Atienza a courtesy call yesterday at the Manila City Hall.

After his meeting with Atienza, Razon met with officials of the Manila’s Finest Brotherhood Association Inc. (MFBAI) to conduct a dialogue, especially on the mechanics of the "No to Kotong" pin project.

Earlier, the MFBAI, which has at least 3,000 members, made known their opposition to the wearing of the pins.

Razon stressed that the "No to Kotong" pins was initiated under the leadership of Aglipay to remind policemen not to indulge in extortion activities so they can regain the trust and confidence of the citizenry.

"We wanted to regain the old glory of the Manila’s Finest and the PNP. The wearing of the pins was just the start of the many programs designed for such a purpose," Razon said.

MFBAI officials headed by its president SPO3 Antonio Emmanuel clarified that they are supportive of Aglipay’s programs.

Instead of wearing pins, Emmanuel suggested, it would be better to post "No to Kotong" signs at the entrance and exit of police headquarters or displayed on police vehicles.

Before the meeting came to an end, the MFBAI put on the "No to "Kotong" pins. Non Alquitran
