Suspected Yakuza man nabbed at BI office

-
A Japanese man suspected to be a member of the Yakuza Gang and wanted by the Interpol was arrested Monday right at the Bureau of Immigration office in Intramuros, Manila while he was applying for an extension of his tourist visa.

Immigration officer Alipio Fernandez Jr. identified the suspect as Takamashi Tatsuhiko.

In a statement, Fernandez said Tatsuhiko, 44, has been on the wanted list of the Interpol and the Tokyo police since March 11 this year.

A Japanese court has issued an arrest warrant against the suspect, who has been charged with the crime of destruction of property.

The Tokyo police has tagged Tatsuhiko as a former member of the Boryokudan Gang, a faction of the Yakuza criminal syndicate, Fernandez said.

The bureau said Tatsuhiko’s Filipino live-in partner has also filed a separate deportation complaint against him for being an undesirable alien.

The woman claimed Tatsuhiko operated an unregistered business in Manila called Tsudoi Construction Co. He also allegedly carried an unlicensed gun which he would fire indiscriminately in their neighborhood in Parañaque City and would boast of his supposed connections with local authorities and the police.

The BI board of commissioners is set to issue a summary deportation order against Tatsuhiko, Fernandez said. – Nikko Dizon
