Mandaluyong Mayor Neptali "Boyet" Gonzales II led officials of the city in the blessing and inauguration rites for the expanded and improved Mandaluyong City Medical Center (MCMC).
Gonzales was joined by Rep. Benhur Abalos Jr., the member of the City Council, the MCMC medical staff led by director Alfredo Lo, city employees and guests during its recent inauguration.
Since its establishment in 1986, MCMC has served over a million patients. Today with more rooms and state-of-the-art medical equipment, the hospital is expected to provide quality medical services to a bigger number of residents.
Although classified as a secondary care services provider, MCMC offers tertiary care services to residents of the city.
It has a departmentalized medical system run by highly competent resident-doctors who hold accreditations in residency training programs in the fields of internal medicine, pediatrics and OB-GYNE.
Gonzales was elated over the completion of the MCMC renovation. He thanked all the people who helped in the project.
The improvement of the MCMC kicked off when Abalos and Gonzales, respectively, allotted funding for the purchase of the lot and for the construction of the MCMC annex building.
During the term of Abalos, the city government paid a little more than P20 million to buy the lot adjacent lot to the old MCMC building. For his part, Gonzales allotted money from his congressional initiatives to finance the construction of the new building.
"The joint effort is an affirmation of our desire to realize the vision of the citys previous political leaders who wanted to build adequate, progressive and lasting medical infrastructure for the people of the Mandaluyong City," Gonzales said, referring to the late Senate President Neptali Gonzales Sr. and former Mayor Benjamin Abalos Sr.
MCMC Director Dr. Lo also thanked Gonzales and Abalos for the recently acquired state-of-the-art medical equipment. MCMC now has a separate emergency room for trauma and for pediatric emergency cases.
The mayor has also made a commitment to upgrade the capabilities of the hospitals medical staff through seminars and training opportunities.
MCMC has been accredited by at least seven nursing schools and colleges an offshoot of its successful medical internship programs.
