A 20-year-old coed who was reportedly abducted outside a mall in Pampanga last Monday night managed to escape from her abductors until she was rescued by Manila policemen while wandering aimlessly inside a mall along Taft Avenue yesterday morning.
Dressed in a school uniform of white blouse and gray skirt, the still visibly shaken victim from Dolores in San Fernando at first reluctantly went with the civilian-clad policemen until she reached the Western Police District headquarters along United Nations Avenue in Ermita, Manila.
At the police headquarters, the victim narrated a sketchy detail of her ordeal in between sobs.
A first year college student at the Science and Technology Institute in San Fernando, she told police that at least six males grabbed her outside a shopping mall in San Fernando City past 7 p.m. Monday.
She said she was boarded into a maroon Mitsubishi Lancer and drove into a secluded place. She said she was able to escape from her two guards at about 10 p.m. Tuesday when they fell asleep.
She said she took a bus along a provincial highway and reached Monumento in Caloocan City where she was befriended by a female stranger. Her new friend took her to Luneta where she spent the night sleeping on a bench. When she woke up the stranger was already gone, she said.
She then took a walk in the park until she reached the Times Plaza mall along Taft Avenue in Ermita where her slightly torn uniform caught the attention of promenaders who reported her strange appearance to the WPD headquarters.
WPD-General Assignment Section operatives led by Inspector Diosdado Lagajino immediately responded and took the woman in police custody.
Lagajino said the victim is still hesitant to say whether she was sexually molested, but keeps on complaining of pains in the body. She was turned over to the Womens and Childrens Desk for further investigation.
Lagajino said they will try to determine whether the woman was a victim of sex or kidnap gangs when she fully regains her composure.
Meantime, police is now establishing contacts with the victims parents who had reportedly flashed an alarm on television of their missing daughter.
