Mom needs AB+ type blood
July 17, 2004 | 12:00am
A 12-year-old girl desperately seeks help for blood donors, a bone marrow match and financial assistance to save her moms life from Acute Myelogenous Leukemia. Her 39-year-old mother, Roslyn Miranda, is confined at the Intensive Care Unit of Asia Hospital in Manila and is being transfused round-the-clock.
"Shes been in ICU for 36 hours now," according to Ray Miranda, Roslyns brother. "Her BP is very low and shes now on a breathing apparatus."
Dr. Francis Lopes, attending physician at Asian Hospital, is exploring an autologous transplant from Roslyn, instead from an unrelated donor. The procedure calls for harvesting some stem cells from Roslyn and transplanting them back to her after a chemotherapy treatment.
Roslyn is in dire need of AB+ type blood to survive. For blood donations, please contact Asian Hospital and Medical Center, 2205 Civic Drive, Filinvest Corporate City, Alabang, Muntinlupa City.
Roslyn was a crew member of McDonalds in 1986 before moving on to various food and beverage outlets. Before her diagnosis, she held for 12 years a managerial position at EDSA Shangri-La Hotel in Mandaluyong City.
She attended Maryknoll in Quezon City from elementary (1978) to high school (1982) and finished with honors in college (1986) completing a degree in Business Administration.
For financial donations to help Roslyn and her daughter, please forward your contributions to: Bank of the Philippine Islands, West Avenue-Del Monte Branch Account Name: Roslyn Miranda; Account No.: 0435 232671.
An email to conform receipt of any donation for Roslyn will be sent to those who will be contributing to help her and her daughter cope with her medical condition.
