A 29-year-old vendor was killed while his companion was critically injured when a drug addict went on a stabbing rampage in Sampaloc, Manila last Sunday night.
Dead on arrival at the Ospital ng Sampaloc was Gregorio Igsi Jr., of Craig street in Sampaloc. He sustained multiple stab wounds in the body.
Leonardo Campos, 27, of Forest Hills Subdivision, Sta. Monica, Quezon City, is currently recuperating at the same hospital for stab wounds in the arm and shoulder.
Investigation showed the victims with several other people were drinking at a street corner when the suspect, who was visibly high on drugs, suddenly lunged at them and stabbed them repeatedly.
After the commotion, the suspect, a teenager, casually walked away from the scene.
Residents in the area said the suspect, a certain "Jig-jig," is a known drug addict who attacks people without provocation everytime he gets high.
The suspect had figured in several attacks in the past, but police failed to arrest him due to his strong connections, according to residents.
A follow-up squad of the Western Police Districts Homicide Section is now conducting a manhunt.
In Makati City, police have launched a manhunt for the killer of a 35-year-old man last Sunday evening.
Police Officer 3 Rio Bulacan identified the fatality as Roy Patrimonio, a resident of Barangay Tejeros in Makati City.
Initial investigation showed that at around 8:30 p.m., Patrimonio was seen running away from an unidentified assailant with a firearm along Yague street. After a brief chase the victim stumbled and was stabbed in the back with a 10-inch knife. Nestor Etolle, Evelyn Macairan
