Absence of cops in Caloocan City police precinct scored

- Pete Laude -
A barangay official scored yesterday the absence of cops in a police outpost located in a crime prone area in Caloocan City.

Johnny Alejandro, 49, barangay tanod of Barangay 20 in Kaunlaran Village, Caloocan City, told The STAR that no policemen were present at the advance command post of Caloocan City Police Community Precinct 7, located near the C-3 Bridge at the boundary of Caloocan City and the coastal town of Navotas when he sought assistance.

Alejandro said that he was on his way to Navotas when attacked by four unidentified men with bladed weapons in front of the unmanned police sub-station at around 5:40 a.m. on Saturday.

He said the suspects, who took his bicycle, could have been arrested if policemen assigned at the sub-station "did not abandon" their post.

"Walang mga pulis, kumatok pa ako naka-padlock (There were no policemen. I even knocked on the door but it was locked)," he said.

Alejandro said that a woman was also assualted by two robbers while waiting for a ride near the same police outpost a few minutes before he was attacked by the four armed robbers.

According to Alejandro the attack on the woman was foiled by a passing police official he identified only as Col. Bautista.

He said that a policeman, who introduced himself as a certain PO1 Salvador, arrived later but claimed that he is no longer assigned at the sub-station.

He said the policeman forcibly opened the sub-station’s door and entered his complaints in the police blotter.
