2 wanted criminals fall

Operatives of the Northern-Criminal Investigation and Detection Group arrested two alleged criminals in a series of operations Friday in Malabon City.

Rico Gallego alias Ikong, 23, charged and sought by the authorities for the rape of a 15-year-old girl last March in Barangay Tunsoya, Malabon, was arrested at his residence at Phase 5, Letre Road, also in Barangay Tunsoya.

Chief Inspector Jimili Macaraeg, Northern-CIDG chief, armed with a warrant of arrest issued by Judge Emmanuel Laurea of Malabon City Regional Trial Court (RTC) Branch 169, led his men in apprehending Gallego at around 7:30 a.m.

No bail was recommended for Gallego.

Another suspect, Neil Marabelis, 26, facing charges of attempted murder, was arrested at around 7 a.m. while in hiding on Hernandez st. in Barangay Catmon.

He was nabbed by virtue of a warrant of arrest issued by Judge Benjamin Aquino Jr. of Malabon RTC Branch 73.

The arresting team were composed of Senior Inspectors Nestorio Aguila and Francis Gordon, with agents Dandie Bonita, Marcelino Magnao and Lito Natividad with Bantay Bayan volunteers. – Pete Laude
