Dismissal for cops who failed drug test
July 7, 2004 | 12:00am
Three Pasig City policemen who tested positive for drug use were recommended yesterday for summary dismissal.
Chief Superintendent Oscar Valenzuela, director of the Eastern Police District (EPD) said he also ordered the filing of criminal and administrative charges against the suspects, SPO4 Giovanni Agas, PO3 Gerardo Canoza and PO1 Loduvico Castro Jr., all assigned at the Pasig City police headquarters.
Valenzuela said a confirmatory test of the urine sample submitted by the trio showed they were drug users.
The EPD director ordered the mandatory drug test among the 340 Pasig City police after one officer was caught on video while sniffing shabu inside the Police Community Precinct 6 (PCP-6) in Barangay Palatiw last month.
Because of the case, Valenzuela sacked the PCP-6 commander and six of his men.
A large number of the Pasig police rank-and-file submitted their urine samples during the two-day drug testing sponsored by former Mayor Soledad Eusebio.
Among those who submitted their urine samples for examinations were Agas, Canoza and Castro.
Valenzuela said more drug tests will be conducted. Non Alquitran
