Las Piñas police foils robbery try

Police said yesterday they foiled an attempt by four male suspects to rob a branch of a door-to-door delivery service company in Las Piñas City Tuesday.

City police chief Superintendent Perpetuo Sanson said the suspects were also planning to kidnap a businesswoman after the robbery in Barangay Pilar.

Arrested at around 3:30 p.m. were Rolly Paimalan, 33; Raymond Torres, 33; George Andan, 24, and Gaudencio Pormento, 44, all from Green Valley, Molino III, Bacoor in Cavite.

Sanson said they received a report from an organization of civilian volunteers about a group of armed men who were planning to stage a robbery in the area.

A police team, led by Police Inspector Vicente Raquion, immediately responded and arrested the suspects at a canteen near the target establishment.

Arresting officers were able to recover from the suspects two sealed plastic sachets allegedly containing illegal drugs, three caliber .38 revolvers with ammunition, caliber 9mm pistol, and a hand grenade.

During tactical interrogation, the suspects admitted they intended to rob a branch of a door-to-door service company, Sanson said.

However, they denied plans to kidnap a businesswoman.

Sanson said they are now checking the involvement of the suspects in other robbery cases in the city. — Edu Punay
