Gunfight boys face minor raps

Both the son of outgoing Senator Robert Jaworski and the son of a Mandaluyong businessman will be charged with a slew of minor offenses for the Monday night gunfight at the parking area of a restaurant in East Greenhills, Mandaluyong City.

Superintendent Erickson Velasquez, Mandaluyong City police chief, said charges such as alarm and scandal, damage to private property, and illegal discharge of firearms will be filed by the authorities against Ryan Jaworski and 14-year-old Anjelo Elton Yap.

Criminal charges for the injuries sustained by the younger Jaworski and the counter-charges of Yap will be left to the two parties, Velasquez said.

Jaworski was hit in the legs during the alleged gunfight at the parking area of the Saisaki restaurant on EDSA last Monday. Six cars, including those owned by police officials having dinner at the restaurant, sustained damages.

It was learned that Jaworski had been silently discharge from the hospital last Thursday and had been shielded from the glare of the media.

The family of Yap is set to file attempted murder and possibly illegal possession of firearms charges against two sons of the senator as well as and their 12 companions, whom they alleged were responsible for the shooting incident last Monday.

Jaworski’s counsel, lawyer Ruben Platon, said his client was unarmed during the confrontation with Yap. The Jaworski camp is now collating their evidence to file counter-charges against the boy.

Sen. Jaworski maintained that the Yap‘s bodyguards from the Mandaluyong City police shot Ryan.

Crime scene investigators retrieved from the crime scene 81 empty shells, 21 of them from an M16 rifle.
