Gasoline station robbed; 1 suspect arrested

Policemen have arrested a 20-year-old robber immediately after staging a heist in a gasoline station early yesterday morning in Quezon City.

However, the suspects’ two other cohorts managed to escape with the loot — a cellphone and P17,000 cash.

PO1 Darwin Pua, of the Central Police District-Station 3, identified the suspect as Allan Vargas, of Muntinlupa Poblacion, Muntinlupa City.

Investigation showed that three men held up the Flying V gasoline station on Mindanao Avenue corner Gloria V Subdivision in Barangay Talipapa at around 2 a.m. yesterday.

Pua said the three men casually approached the gasoline boy and cashier, and at gunpoint immediately declared a hold-up.

The suspects ordered the cashier to open the cash box and hand over the night’s earnings amounting to P17,000. The suspects also took the cellphone from one of the employees and immediately fled on foot.

But a customer at a nearby burger stand managed to call the police and report the incident.

During the subsequent body search on Vargas, police said they recovered a toy gun. Witnesses said the two other suspects were armed with kitchen knives.Katherine Adraneda
