Boy on bike killed
June 5, 2004 | 12:00am
A nine-year-old boy in a borrowed bike zigzagged his way with abandon in between cars in a busy street and was killed after a speeding sports utility vehicle slammed into him yesterday noon in Caloocan City.
Authorities identified the victim as Ben Sahagun of Abbey Street, PNR Compound, Caloocan City. He died before reaching the Pagamutang Bayan ng Malabon (PBM) due to multiple head and body injuries.
Investigators said the victim, carefree and foolhardly, whizzed by the vehicles along Samson Road at around 11:35 a.m. yesterday, unmindful of his own safety.
At one wrong turn, a Sangandaan-bound Ford Expedition (MDS 347) driven by Felipe Puso of 544 Fabella Road, Mandaluyong City rammed him sending him flying from the impact.
Despite Puso applying the brakes, the victim was still run over by the vehicle. Puso rushed the victim to the hospital and voluntarily surrendered to the authorities. Jerry Botial
