Luli, K-4 kids launch youth caravan

- Katherine Adraneda -
Presidential daughter Luli Arroyo led children and relatives of national candidates under the K-4 coalition yesterday in kicking off a youth caravan aimed at informing the public on the programs of the government while "reminding voters about disruptive elements pushing for EDSA 4."

The five-day youth caravan that kicked off yesterday morning in Quezon City in the National Capital Region, the Team Gloria Youth-NCR said.

"The youth caravan will try to convince the youth that we must not be swayed by disruptive elements pushing for EDSA 4. We would like to remind the youth that we must protect our democracy and our right to choose who will lead us to economic development," said Prof. Melvin Mitra, head of the Team Gloria Youth-NCR.

He said the caravan will also serve as a venue for the children of candidates to get in touch with the electorate and inform them about the government’s programs and projects. Leafleting and door-to-door campaigns will also be conducted.

Arroyo said it was important to focus their information drive in the NCR because it is in this area where voters still need to be reminded about the election and its significance.

"We, the children and relatives of the entire K-4 slate, have taken it upon ourselves to explain the issues to them (electorate) for our parents," Luli said. "Sometimes agitators actually have no issues, it’s just that they don’t understand them, panggulo lang sila," she said. "Kung magkagulo sa May 1, hindi naman ang nanay ko ang kawawa, tayong lahat."

Yesterday, the youth caravan headed to Barangays Payatas, Batasan Hills, Escopa, and Bahay Toro in Quezon City.

Today, the caravan is scheduled to go to the Camanava area, specifically in Barangays Libis, Dagat-Dagatan, NVSS and Navotas.

On April 28, the caravan will proceed to Maricaban, Tramo, Malibay, San Dionisio, Tambo, Sto. Nino, Dongalo, Kabihasnan, Evacom in Pasay and Paranaque; and Las Pinas.

On Friday, the caravan will visit Makati, Taguig and Bicutan, particularly in Guadalupe, Pembo, Rembo, Cembo, Comembo, Tipas, Bagumbayan, and Tenemen.

On May 1, Labor Day, the caravan will be at Smokey Mountain, Pier, Del Pan, Baseco, and Parola in Manila.
