April 25, 2004 | 12:00am
A gasoline pump at a Petron gas station was damaged after being rammed by a 10-wheeler truck, which tried to avoid hitting a car in Paco, Manila before dawn yesterday.
Traffic authorities are verifying reports that a person, who remained unidentified, was injured and was taken to a still unknown hospital.
Traffic police said the incident took place at around 3:50 a.m. at the corner of San Marcelino and Pedro Gil streets in Paco, Manila.
Initial investigation showed that truck with license plate UFF-964 was heading south when it nearly collided with a car, prompting its driver to turn left.
However, the truck driver apparently miscalculated his turn causing the truck to ram into the pumping station.
Witnesses said the truck driver immediately escaped after the incident. Police are now coordinating with Petron Corp. to determine the amount of damage caused by the incident. Cecille Suerte Felipe
