Fish port security guards no match for armed trader

-
Two hardluck security guards of the Navotas Fish Port Complex proved no match to a fish trader whom they accosted for carrying a gun yesterday morning in Navotas.

Police said victims Ponciano Enderina, 50 and Cabado Baac, 44, of La Trinidad Homes, Trese Martirez, Cavite City, engaged suspect Reynaldo Olivar, 40, of Interior 5, Heroes del ’96, in a shootout that led to their death.

Olivar was also reportedly injured and was taken to an undisclosed hospital.

Initial investigation showed the incident took place at around 5 a.m. yesterday at the fish port. Olivar was off to his business when Enderina and Baac noticed the unusual bulge on his waist whereupon they accosted the suspect. The two allegedly blocked his way and refused to let him in unless he showed what he was hiding in his waist. This led to a heated altercation that resulted in Olivar drawing his gun and firing at the duo. The two fired back but they were by then already fatally hit. Police said an investigation is now underway to determine the real motive for the killing. – Jerry Botial
