Trader nabbed in shabu buy-bust

A Chinese-Filipino trader, his live-in partner and a woman companion were collared in a sting operation after selling about a kilo of shabu to a police poseur-buyer at a Chinese restaurant yesterday morning in Monumento, Caloocan City.

Chief Superintendent Marcelino Franco Jr., NPDO chief, presented to the media yesterday suspects Antonio "Tony" Ong alias "Kimpee," 23, single, of 10 Ongpin street, Binondo, Manila, his girlfriend Rose Anne Candor, 23, businesswoman, of Tomas Mapua street, Manila and friend Marivic Andog, 24, a saleslady, of Sto. Niño street, Pasay City.

Seized from the suspects were three bags containing almost 600 grams of shabu.

Records showed the Caloocan Police Station Anti-Illegal Drugs-Special Operations Unit (SAID-SOU) earlier received information on the activities of Ong in the area. Chief Inspector Francisco del Rosario, SAID-SOU chief, said a team was immediately formed for an entrapment operation. Ong and the team later agreed on the sale of shabu amounting to some P200,000.

At around 9 a.m., Ong met with PO2 Jeffrey Pacis, the poseur-buyer, at the Hap Chan Restaurant just across the MCU Hospital along EDSA near the Bonifacio Monument Circle.
