Salahuddin Jamal, 23, of Maharlika Village in Taguig, was nabbed by responding policemen from the neighboring Binondo police station. They seized from him a caliber .22 pistol and a still undertermined amount of jewelry. His still unnamed cohort escaped.
Investigation showed that the two fired a gun and immediately smashed the glass display panel of Gold View and General Merchandize at Cluster Building 1 of the sprawling shopping mall.
Witnesses, however, immediately alerted the police and a chase ensued. Binondo police operatives later turned over Jamal to the Tondo police. The case is still under investigation. — Jose Aravilla
