A jewelry shop in the busy Tutuban shopping center in Divisoria was robbed by daring thieves yesterday afternoon but one of the two suspects was apprehended by the police.
Salahuddin Jamal, 23, of Maharlika Village in Taguig, was nabbed by responding policemen from the neighboring Binondo police station. They seized from him a caliber .22 pistol and a still undertermined amount of jewelry. His still unnamed cohort escaped.
Investigation showed that the two fired a gun and immediately smashed the glass display panel of Gold View and General Merchandize at Cluster Building 1 of the sprawling shopping mall.
Witnesses, however, immediately alerted the police and a chase ensued. Binondo police operatives later turned over Jamal to the Tondo police. The case is still under investigation. Jose Aravilla
