3,912 Las Piñas kids enjoy free graduation

Some 3,912 pre-schoolers at day-care centers in Las Piñas City’s will enjoy free toga, souvenir photos and snacks on their graduation.

Las Piñas City Mayor Vergel "Nene" Aguilar said the free graduation is part of the education program package for all less fortunate, but deserving students in the city as well as college scholars of the city college — the Dr. Filemon C. Aguilar Memorial College.

"Considering education is my administration’s priority, every underprivileged student will get the full benefit under the program. Also, they will enjoy the quality of education similar to those of the private schools. All these are free of charge," Aguilar stressed.

Pre-schoolers in 65 day-care centers in Las Piñas’ 20 barangays enjoy free tuition, uniforms and receive regular school supplies.

Under the Aguilar administration, thousands of children belonging to economically-disadvantaged families have availed of free and quality day-care services, which include free tuition, uniforms and school supplies.

They are also provided with proper nutrition and health care through the stewardship of the mayor’s wife, Mel Aguilar, who chairs the Las Piñas City Nutrition Council.

Aguilar said additional day-care centers will be constructed this year to accommodate the growing number of children who wish to avail of the free child education.

Aguilar’s efforts in providing quality education among children has earned him and the city government the Most Children-Friendly City by the Council for the Welfare of Children since year 2000 to the present.
