12-year-old boy drowns in Marikina River

A 12-year-old boy drowned in the Marikina River over the weekend after diving deep into water during a swimming competition with friends.
It took responding fishermen an hour to recover at the bottom of the river the body of the victim, a graduating elemetary student and residing at Lot 54, Block 1, Tanguile St., Printing Village in Barangay Parang.
Senior Superintendent Felipe Rojas Jr., Marikina City police chief said the boy and several friends went swimming at the Marikina River near the Fairlane Subdivision in Barangay Concepcion at 3:30 p.m. Saturday and decided to engage in a diving competition. However, the victim failed to show up after diving deep into the bottom of the river. Non Alquitran
