NBI seizes fake car spare parts

-
Elements of the National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) swooped down on five warehouses suspected to be engaged in large scale distribution of fake Honda spare parts.

Several thousand pieces of fake parts were confiscated from the warehouses of A&G Bikeshop, Ebay Commercial, Player’s Choice and Zigma Sales Center by the agents from the NBI’s Intellectual Property Rights Division led by lawyer Renato Garbo III and Joseph Furing.

The raid on four targets in Quezon City and one large warehouse in Meycauayan, Bulacan were made on the strength of search and seizure warrants issued by Judge Antonio Eugenio Jr. of Branch 24 of Manila RTC and Judge Rodrigo Caspillo of Branch 24 Cabanatuan RTC.

The complaint was lodged by Honda Motor Co., Ltd. of Japan through its local law firm E.B. Astudillo and Associates against the five establishments that were allegedly engaged in the importation, distribution and sales of fake Honda motorcycle and automobile parts in violation of Honda’s intellectual property rights.

Honda is one of the biggest manufacturers of motorcycles in the Philippine as well as popular automobile models like Civic, CRV and Accord.

Honda had issued warnings that counterfeit parts are definitely inferior in quality and may cause technical breakdown of the vehicle.
