Cinema tragedy

-
Two males, believed to be victims of heart attack, died while watching movies inside separate second-run theaters in Manila the other day.

Reports at the Homicide Section of the Western Police District identified the first fatality as Joselino Aragon, a stay-in tireman of Del Marine Corp. in South Harbor, Port Area, Manila. His body was discovered at the orchestra section of Times Theater located along Quezon Boulevard in Quiapo at about 3:25 p.m. Friday.

Witnesses said the victim apparently collapsed while looking for a vacant seat. Others said they tried to revive the victim but failed.

The second fatality was described as between 40 and 50 years old, wearing a gray shirt, maong short pants and a pair of sandals.

His already stiff body was discovered under the row of seats at the orchestra section by a roving security guard of Roben Theater at C. M. Recto Avenue in Sta. Cruz at about 11:20 p.m.

Investigators said the fatalities in the two moviehouses showed no signs of external body injuries and could have possibly died of heart attack.

Meanwhile, a possible victim of summary execution was fished out of the Pasig River at the back of the Quinta Market in Quiapo early dawn yesterday.

Police said a nylon cord was looped around the neck of the bloated body of the victim, while both hands were tied at the back.

The victim was described as between 35 and 40 years old, at least five-foot-four, of medium built and had a mustache. He was clad in a white T-shirt, cream short pants and barefooted. His left shoulder bore a tattoo of a wild cat, while a Libra sign was tattooed on his left shoulder. – Nestor Etolle, Cecille Suerte Felipe
