One dead in Muntinlupa road mishap

A 17-year-old student was killed while seven others were hurt, including a daughter of senatorial candidate Ramon "Bong" Revilla Jr., in a road mishap late Friday night in Muntinlupa City.

Prober said the fatality, identified as Francis Perlas, died on the spot while Revilla’s daughter, Inah Bautista, along with Richard Yebes, Oleodid Franciso, Ida Sabitsama, Monique Caretro, Allan Angeles and Carlos Ayuma were all rushed to the Asian Hospital Medical Center for treatment. All are students of the De la Salle Zobel in Ayala, Alabang.

Investigator PO3 Cecilio Tomas said the victims were on their way to Manila from Cavite on board a Toyota Surf (GPF-248) owned and driven by Yebes.

"I think they were classmates on their way to Manila," Tomas said.

Yebes was driving the SUV along Daanghari Avenue in Ayala-Alabang Village when the right rear tire suddenly burst as the vehicle approached a curve at around 9:45 p.m., Tomas said.

Police said the driver lost control of the wheel, causing the vehicle to turn-turtle. Tomas said bystanders rushed the victims to the hospital.

"We went the hospital, but were not allowed inside because of strict hospital policies," he said.
