3 dead in Caloocan City fire

-
At least three persons, including a six-year-old boy, reportedly died in a fire that lasted less than an hour yesterday afternoon in Caloocan City.

The fatalities were identified as Etang Roxas, 40; Roderick Roxas Jose, 19; and Emmanuel Roxas, 6; all of Lot 24, Block 48-H, Phase 3-C in Kaunlaran Village.

Fire Officer 2 Alex delos Trinos said that the blaze broke out at the victims’ residence at around 3:15 p.m. and lasted around 35 minutes.

It reached only second alarm but the victims failed to come out of the burning house.

"They died of suffocation," Trinos said.

Trinos added that firemen were able to quickly contain the blaze and prevented it from spreading to other houses.

As of press time yesterday, Caloocan City arson investigators are yet to determine the exact cause of the fire. "Our investigators are still in the area," Trinos said. –Pete Laude
