QC govt wins housing award

The Quezon City government has been named a recepient of the 1st Kabalikat Award for its sucessful implementation of community mortgage housing program (CMP) of the national government.
The Housing and Urban Development Coordianting Council (HUDCC) said that the city government under the stewardship of Mayor Feliciano Belmonte Jr. has implemented 120 projects since the CMP was launched. These projects have benefitted at least 5,000 urban poor families in the citys four districts.
HUDCC secretary general Armando de Castro said Belmonte will personally receive the award from President Arroyo at Malacañang on Dec. 10.
Belmonte said programs providing decent homes to the citys poor families are among the priorities of the city government, made possible through the Urban Poor Affairs Office. Perseus Echeminada
