QC cops probing mystery SUV

Elements of the Central Police District (CPD) are trying to determine the motive behind the abandonment of a sports utility vehicle, where bloodstains were found in the seat yesterday morning after the vehicle was found at the boundary of Manila and Quezon City.

CPD director Chief Superintendent Napoleon Castro told The Star that investigators are initially treating the incident as a mere shooting incident even as there are indications that the female owner of the Toyota RAV 4 (XHZ-210) may have been kidnapped.

Initial reports disclosed that about 9:30 a.m., bystanders saw the SUV stopping at the corner of Cuenca and Dapitan streets in Barangay Biak-na-Bato.

Witnesses told police that moments later a Toyota Tamaraw FX (USR-225) arrived. At this point, passengers of the RAV 4 came out and transferred to the other vehicle.

Castro said that the passengers of the RAV 4 included three men and an unconscious woman, who is yet to be identified by the law enforcers. The FX reportedly had five men inside. It was not made clear whether the men were armed.

The FX subsequently sped off toward the Manila area.

According to Castro, the blood on the driver’s seat of the RAV 4 might be from the woman, but it was not clear if witnesses saw blood on the woman.

Castro likewise said the blood might have come from another person, possibly, the woman’s driver. The body of the driver may have been dumped somewhere by the suspects.

Police, led by CPD-Station 1 commander Superintendent Alfred Corpuz immediately coordinated with the Land Transportation Office to determine the owners of the two vehicles.

"I believe that this incident was not committed in Quezon City. Probably, these people came from somewhere near the city and had to transfer immediately to another vehicle. They happened to stop at the boundary of Manila and Quezon City," Castro said.
