Fatal game of one-on-one

-
A one-on-one game of basketball turned bloody after the losing player, unable to hold down the humiliation of defeat, whipped out a knife and stabbed dead his superior opponent yesterday in Malabon City.

Superintendent Pere Ramos, city police chief, identified the victim as Fernando Trinidad, single, of Paradise Village, Barangay Tonsuya, Malabon City. Trinidad died of several stab wounds in the body before reaching the Tondo Medical Center where he was taken for treatment. Police are hunting down the prime suspect, a certain "Jay-ar" of Samlet Compound, Letre, Malabon City.

PO1 Ananias Birad Jr. of the Station Investigation Bureau (SIB), said the stabbing occurred at around 12:30 a.m. at a basketball court along Letre Road.

The suspect was allegedly piqued at the playing skills of the victim who went on to win the one-on-one pick-up game spiced up by bets waged on the players. The physical game turned bloody after the victim won handily over the suspect. Jerry Botial
