Shabu seized at Domestic

-
A passenger bound for Cebu has been arrested by combined agents of the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) and the airport police for possession of shabu during a routine inspection at the Manila Domestic Airport in Pasay City.

Senior Superintendent Orlando Mabutas, Director of the PDEA-Metro Manila Regional Office (MMRO), identified the suspect as Enrico de Castro, a passenger bound for Cebu via Cebu Pacific Flight 51-561.

Castro was undergoing a routine search last Friday at around 7:30 a.m. by John Hemady, a duty frisker at the Manila Domestic Airport, when a sachet of shabu weighing 0.23 grams, was found in one of his pockets.

De Castro was picked up by airport duty officer SPO3 Rodolfo Presto, who turned him over to the PDEA aiport interdiction unit.

PDEA officials said the suspect was charged with violation of possession of illegal drugs under Section 11, Article II of Republic Act 9165, or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002.

Meanwhile, elements of the PDEA in Region 8 also arrested last Sunday a suspected drug pusher identified as Jose Greg Cadungog alias Abul in Barangay San Jose, San Juan, Southern Leyte.

Cadungog is on the list of the most wanted persons in the region. The PDEA said the arrest was made by virtue of a search warrant issued by Judge Bethany Kapili of Regional Trial Court Branch 24 in Maasin City. – Christina Mendez
