Police Officer 2 Noel Pardinas, of the Makati City police-Homicide Division, said the victim, Wildomar Bayitas, 45, of 4050 Laperal Compound, Barangay Guadalupe Viejo died from a gunshot wound in the jaw. He was not drunk.
Inspector Florante Jose, Homicide Division chief, said the victim, said to be an ex-convict, uses the alias Eduardo Bautista. However, police did not know why he was sent to prison.
Initial investigation showed the incident happened at around 5:20 p.m. last Friday. The victim was with his friends when he allegedly pulled out a caliber .38 revolver with one bullet in the chamber.
He then poked the gun at one of his companions and pulled the trigger. No shot was fired.
Not satisfied with his little game, Bayitas then trained the barrel of his gun on a stray dog. Luckily for the dog, there was no shot fired when Bayitas pulled the trigger again.
On his third attempt, he spun the cylinder, pointed the gun at his jaw before pulling the trigger. This time, a shot was fired. He was taken to the Makati Medical Center for treatment.
"When he was taken to the hospital, he was still breathing.
Dr. Ananas Cornejo, the attending doctor, said Bayitas sustained a bullet wound in the lower jaw exiting his head.
He expired at around 5:44 a.m. His cadaver is still at the hospital morgue. Evelyn Macairan
