Body parts found in QC

Human body parts possibly belonging to two men were discovered in separate areas in Quezon City yesterday morning, according to the Central Police District-Criminal Investigation Unit (CPD-CIU).

The head of a still unidentified man was recovered about 1:10 a.m. by a bystander on a bridge over Culiat Creek along Visayas Avenue, Barangay Bahay-Toro.

A certain Rosendo Masarte, who lives in the area, told investigators that he saw a man alight from an owner type jeep. The man threw a black garbage bag into the creek. Then he and his driver-companion sped off toward Elliptical Road.

Out of curiosity, Masarte checked the plastic bag and was surprised to see that it contained a man’s head. He reported the incident to authorities.

Some four hours later, a torso and left leg were found at the center island of Quezon Avenue near Agham Road also in the city.

MMDA traffic enforcer Alejandro Guinto Jr. discovered the body parts contained in a black garbage bag that was placed inside a white sack dumped on the island.

About 9:35 a.m., scavengers at the Payatas B sought assistance from authorities after they found a pair of legs, four arms and a torso on a pile of garbage.

The body parts were separately wrapped in two garbage bags, police said.

Investigators noted tattoo markings — "KIDIW," "NANCY," and "JUN" on the chest and "JARAYO" on one of the arms.

Two hours after, another group of scavengers in Payatas uncovered another garbage bag containing a right leg.

CPD-CIU chief Superintendent Raul Medina said the body parts may be that of two persons, who may have been involved in drug dealing. He did not discount the possibility that this could be the work of a vigilante group operating in the city.

Medina said CPD Scene of the Crime Operations (SOCO) team are now examining the body parts.
