QC gov’t eyes e-libraries

-
The Quezon City government, in a bid to deliver quality education to the city’s public elementary and high school students, will convert libraries at 11 public schools into e-libraries to improve library services to the students.

Quezon City Mayor Feliciano Belmonte Jr. gave the city division of schools the go-signal for the initial implementation of the Smart Builders E-Library at the Juan Sumulong High School.

Libraries of 10 other schools — the Esteban Abada Elementary School, Lagro High School, Novaliches High School, Quirino High School, Rosa Susano Nova Elementary School, Aurora Quezon Elementary School, Don Alejandro Roces High School Ramon Magsaysay High School, Cubao High School and E. Rodriguez High School — will also be converted into SB e-libraries.

Belmonte, chairman of the local school board, has also launched a project which provides technical training to students so they can earn money while pursuing studies.

Skills training will cover arts and craft, cosmetology, practical electricity, cell phone repair, food management and other short courses.

Other projects include leadership training for selected student leaders in 42 secondary schools in the city. The project aims to develop youth leaders into dynamic, productive and morally upright individuals who can help build a quality community. – Perseus Echeminada
