Mother slain in Tondo

A former overseas Filipino worker (OFW) was shot dead by an unidentified gunman while breastfeeding her three-week-old baby inside her shanty in Tondo, Manila Sunday night.

The victim was identified as Zoraida Mastura, 25, of Purok 2, Isla Puting Bato, Tondo. She sustained a bullet wound in the body.

Neighbors of the victim told police they heard a gunshot coming from the victim’s shanty at about 10:30 p.m. When they went to inquire, they saw the lifeless body of the victim lying in a pool of blood. Beside the body was her baby who was not hurt.

Police recovered a spent shell from a caliber .45 pistol at the scene of the crime. – Nestor Etolle
