Adamson professor found dead in Sta. Mesa

An Adamson University professor was found dead yesterday afternoon in Sta. Mesa, Manila.

Arnel Bautista, 48, single, was found dead at about 12:30 p.m. inside room D-10 of Building 28, GSIS Metro Homes at the corner of Pureza and Anonas streets in Sta. Mesa.

Bautista sustained massive injuries at the back of the head, prompting investigators to conclude that he was attacked. His room was also in disarray when his body was found.

A neighbor, Lina Sabado, 38, reported hearing a commotion from the room at around 4 a.m.

Western Police District Homicide unit investigator Police Officer 3 Dennis Javier said the victim’s cash, jewelry, and two cellphones were missing. All the cabinet locks were also forced open.

"We are yet to complete the autopsy but based on our initial report, the extent of his head injuries could not have been caused by a fall from the bed," said Javier. — Jose Aravilla
