Aglipay, who heads the police Anti-Drug Special Operations Task Force (AID-SOTF), said the properties will be converted into drug rehabilitation centers or finance the rehab of drug dependents in the country.
"The drug syndicates will never enjoy the fruits of their crime. Instead, their assets will be used to strengthen the (governments) fight against illegal drugs," said Aglipay in an interview.
Earlier, Aglipay was quoted as saying that drug money was used to finance destabilization attempts against the Arroyo government. But as of yesterday, he admitted there was no evidence to support this claim.
Among the properties being eyed for forfeiture in favor of the government by Superintendent John Sosito, head of the AID-SOTF, are the 500-sq.m. house and lot in Tanza, Cavite, jet skis, speedboats, fishing boat, a yacht, an L200 truck, a Space Gear Wagon, a luxury Jaguar car worth P2.9 million, four townhouse units in Lancaster Townhomes in Pasay City worth P8 million each, a townhouse in Marina Bayview Homes in Parañaque, a building being constructed along a beach in Subic, Zambales, a beach resort in Cebu purchased in cash for P46 million and three other lots in an island in Zambales.
Sosito is also investigating four bank accounts of Sy, his Stocklot Offices with 11 branches nationwide and his house and lots in Parañaque and Las Piñas.
In his four-page report to President Arroyo, Aglipay enumerated the AID-SOTFs big gains in the fight against illegal drugs.
In a record 75 days of relentless operations, the AID-SOTF arrested 12 Chinese nationals, including Dy, whose real name was Li Lan Yan.
Sy, however, continues to evade AID-SOTFs massive manhunt.
AID-SOTF also neutralized three transnational drug syndicates headed by Dy, Sy and Zhang Shang Ming and permanently stopped operations of their four shabu laboratories and six warehouses in Cavite and Metro Manila.
"An estimated P8 billion worth of shabu was taken out of the streets as a result of these successful AID-SOTF raids," said Aglipay in his report. Non Alquitran
