Drug pushers, users not tolerated in Manila — Police

Operatives of the District Anti-Illegal Drugs Special Operations Group (DAID-SOG) of the Western Police District (WPD) said yesterday that drug pushers and users will never be tolerated by the police in Manila.

Anti-illegal drugs operations, they said, have in fact been intensified to crack down on drug-related crimes in the city.

DAID-SOG cited surveillance operations within WPD’s area of responsibility which led to the arrests of drug pushers and users almost everyday in the past few weeks.

This proves that although illegal drugs is still a menace in Manila, the police is not passive on this matter, they said.

Last August 21, six men identified as Roberto Gaskell, Jerry Santiago, Alexander Reyes, Francisco de Leon, Junjin Arguelles, and Ricky Plaza were arrested for allegedly either selling or using illegal drugs in separate operations in Manila.

A DAID-SOG officer told The STAR that when police nab suspected drug addicts, they are brought to the DAID-SOG for detention. Once proven guilty for violation of R.A. 9165, otherwise known as the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Acts of 2002, they will be transferred to the integrated jail of the WPD.  Edu Punay
