- Pia Lee-Brago -
A 32-year-old jeepney driver who resisted a holdup was killed yesterday morning in Quezon City by unidentified robbers who posed as passengers.

Police said Dante Gemeda, 32, of Dahlia St., Fairview, Quezon City, was driving his passenger jeepney, plying the Fairview-Cubao route, when two passengers ordered him to stop near the National Kidney Institute at around 6:30 a.m. and announced a holdup.

However, Guemeda refused to stop prompting one of the two suspects to shoot him in the head.

The two still unidentified suspects, armed with a handgun and believed to be members of the Sigue-Sigue Gang immediately fled after divesting the passengers of their valuables

Meanwhile, a 48-year-old vendor was killed by four unidentified men in Quezon City the other day.

Christopher Polanesas, of Rosal 3, Sitio Cumonoy, Bgy. Bagong Silang, was killed in front of the JLM Store located at 82-A J.P. Rizal St., Sitio Cumonoy at around 8:30 p.m.

PO2 Rommel Merino, officer-on-case, said the victim was attending to his merchandise when the four suspects armed with handguns appeared from behind and stabbed and shot the victim.

Police ruled out robbery as motive for the killing after they found out that the victim’s earnings and valuables were not taken.
